September 16, 2026 – McLean, Va. – AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of mission essential and information engineering services to federal customers, today announced the selection of Christopher L. (Chris) Carson as an independent Board Member, Audit and Finance Committee Chair, effective September 14, 2026. Carson will occupy a seat on the Board that was vacated by Barry Broadus, who served in his position for nine years.
Carson brings over 40 years of experience in auditing, consulting, and leading the financial management of government contractors, having held several leadership positions such as Corporate Controller at Dual Inc. and Ogden Corporation, as well as Managing Partner at Argy, Wiltse & Robinson Inc. and BDO USA. While at Argy and BDO (which acquired Argy), he helped found their government contracting practice, which grew from six individuals in 1994 to over 250 individuals in 2018 at his retirement. Most recently, Carson served as the Chief Financial Officer of Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation where he was responsible for managing financial operations and played a primary role in raising capital.

In his role as a Board member, Carson will chair the Audit and Finance Committee. “I worked with AMERICAN SYSTEMS many years ago and have been impressed by their business plans and continued growth,” said Carson. “Their longstanding status as a 100% employee-owned government contractor through their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) also appealed to me. Carson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce (Accounting) from University of Virginia. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia, holds a current membership to the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He joins President and CEO John Steckel, VP of Human Resources Chris Braccio, and independent directors Peter Smith (Chairman) and Dave Dacquino on AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ Board of Directors.
