AMERICAN SYSTEMS Honored with SECAF Award for Mentorship to Small Businesses

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of federal IT and engineering solutions, announced that it has been named Small Business Partner of the Year by the Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF) as part of its sixth annual Government Contractor Awards. The Small Business Partner of the Year award recognizes a large business that has demonstrated its ability to establish and support mentorships, teaming, partnerships, and other beneficial programs for small businesses.

Supporting growth in the government contracting community is a priority for AMERICAN SYSTEMS. The company is involved in both the SBA's and the GSA's mentor-protégé programs as well as various other agencies' mentor-protégé programs, supporting small businesses by providing them with resources to successfully pursue federal contracting opportunities. As a result of programs like these, the federal government has access to a stronger base of government contractors that are primed for success on government contracts and subcontracts.

"Small businesses introduce new and exciting ideas to promote innovation in government and enable agencies to meet their missions. At AMERICAN SYSTEMS, we understand the critical need to connect these small businesses with government," said Peter Smith, Executive VP and COO at AMERICAN SYSTEMS. "The SECAF Small Business Partner of the Year award speaks to our dedication to priding emerging companies the tools they need for success."

The SECAF Government Contractor Awards honor emerging and established government contractors that play an integral role in the small business community. AMERICAN SYSTEMS was honored during SECAF's annual Awards Gala at the Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner on May 1.
