AMERICAN SYSTEMS Taps James Scampavia as Vice President of Business Development

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a leading provider of federal IT and engineering solutions, today announced the appointment of James Scampavia as vice president of business development. In this role, Scampavia will oversee business development efforts including identifying new customers, conducting effective capture strategies and developing winning proposals.

“James will be an integral part of our leadership team, particularly in shaping strategies across our business areas and integrating efforts across delivery and business development,” said William C. Hoover, president and CEO, AMERICAN SYSTEMS. “We are looking forward to having James in this capacity, as he is a customer-facing, hands-on, BD executive with a proven track record of performance.”

Scampavia has more than 25 years of marketing and business development experience in Federal and Local Government markets with the past 15 years in business development, working for government contractors. He has ascended through a number of roles with increasing responsibility in business development with companies such as BAE Systems, L-3 Communications, and STG. Prior to that, Scampavia held senior marketing positions with state and local entities, notably the Fairfax County (Va.) Economic Development Authority.

Scampavia earned MBA from The George Washington University, and a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He holds professional affiliations with AFCEA Homeland Security Committee, TechAmerica, and the Professional Services Council.
