AMERICAN SYSTEMS Selects Michael Innella to Lead Professional, Technical and IT Services

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a government IT solutions provider and one of the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S., today announced the appointment of Michael Innella as vice president and executive director of Professional, Technical and IT Services. In this role, Innella will oversee operational management and business development responsibilities for the company’s IT services division that supports federal agencies with program management, logistics, risk assessment and training needs.

Innella has more than 21 years of experience in IT solutions and professional services, most recently advising government contractors on professional services and software development programs as an independent consultant. Innella directed human capital and organizational business transformations for small and mid-sized contractors, and positioned small contractors for strategic growth through acquisition.

Prior to his work as an independent consultant, Innella served as CIO as well as senior vice president of Systems Engineering Solutions for Stanley Associates, where he led the design, implementation and maintenance of IT solutions for federal and Department of Defense (DoD) agencies including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of the Treasury, U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.

Innella earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and his master’s degree in the same discipline from George Mason University. He also completed the Leadership in Professional Service Firms program at the Harvard Business School. Innella served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Combat Information Center Officer and Tactical Action Officer onboard the USS Tattnall. Innella is based out of AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ Chantilly Office.
