Brian Neely

Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer


As CIO and CTO for AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Mr. Neely leads the overall vision, planning, and management of all technology, information, and cybersecurity-related resources throughout the enterprise. Mr. Neely began his career at AMERICAN SYSTEMS in 1996 and spent his first 10 years directly supporting the Army, Navy, and Intel communities.

Mr. Neely’s business insight has grown from over a decade as a C-level executive in a progressive technology organization, building on the knowledge and insight gained as an alumnus of the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania) and through an education in strategy and innovation from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. On the technical side, Mr. Neely has 20 years of real-world information technology experience, with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Virginia Tech, a Masters in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz School of Policy & Management (graduating summa cum laude), a CIO Certification from CMU and the Federal CIO Council, and a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Certification from Carnegie Mellon’s CyLab (an NSA Center of Excellence). 

Mr. Neely was selected as an InformationWeek 500 winner for Digital Business, a top 250 leader for the Innovative Use of Technology, and was recognized as one of ExecutiveBiz’s Top 10 Federal sector CTOs. Mr. Neely is certified in Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, & CMMI, and is a practitioner of PMP, ISO 9001, and multiple IT security frameworks.
