In addition to Bill Hoover, President and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS, and Mark Danisewicz, Chief Financial Officer, the following independent members serve on the AMERICAN SYSTEMS Board of Directors.

Donald R. Burklew, Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mr. Donald R. Burklew, Chairman of the Board of DirectorsMr. Burklew was elected to the AMERICAN SYSTEMS Board of Directors on June 12, 2002 and was appointed Chairman of the Board on June 30, 2005.  Mr. Burklew is currently a member of the Board’s Human Resources Committee for which he served as Chairman from June 30, 2002 through September 25, 2006.  He is also a member of the Board’s Audit & Finance Committee and Chairman of the Nominating Committee. 

For more than 30 years, working with such firms as ManTech, ORI, Rockwell International, and Martin Marietta, Mr. Burklew has focused on providing top quality engineering and analytical support on high technology military and commercial contracts. Recently, he served as Vice Chairman and President of ManTech International Corporation and President of ORI, Inc. Mr. Burklew has in-depth knowledge of the merger and acquisition process as a mechanism for corporate growth and diversification and extensive experience in business development.

Mr. Burklew has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a candidate for an MBA from the University of California and for a Doctor of Science in Transportation Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning from the George Washington University.  Mr. Burklew also serves on the University of Maryland’s MIPS Advisory Board.

Patrick C. FitzPatrick

Mr. Patrick C. FitzPatrickMr. FitzPatrick joined the AMERICAN SYSTEMS Board of Directors on March 1, 2006 and was appointed the Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee on that same date. He also serves as a member of the Board’s Human Resources Committee. 

He has more than 30 years of financial, executive, and management experience, which includes serving as Senior Vice President and CFO at DynCorp, at American Mobile Satellite Corporation, and at PRC, Inc., and in numerous senior executive leadership positions. At PRC, he was instrumental in leading the company’s merger and acquisition activity.

Mr. FitzPatrick holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Graduate School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

L. Kenneth Johnson

Mr. L. Kenneth JohnsonMr. Johnson was elected to the AMERICAN SYSTEMS Board of Directors on September 25, 2006 and was appointed the Chairman of the Human Resources Committee on that same date.  He also serves as a member of the Board’s Audit & Finance Committee.

Mr. Johnson, currently associated with the INPUT Consulting Group, was the President of U.S. Operations for CACI International, Inc. He managed the company’s largest subsidiary unit, with primary operations in the federal solutions marketplace. Before joining CACI, Mr. Johnson was President and CEO of Tracor Enterprise Solutions (formerly Cordant) and a Senior Vice President with Planning Research Corporation, Inc. As a leader in the federal market for more than 20 years, Mr. Johnson has a wealth of experience in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and visibility enhancement in the federal marketplace.

Mr. Johnson has twice been named to Federal Computer Week’s Federal 100 list of top IT executives. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. Johnson served with the U.S. Army Infantry in Vietnam as a military advisor.
