AMERICAN SYSTEMS Selects Joseph Szymczak to Head Intelligence Market thrust

Seasoned Program and Operations Manager to Expand Company’s Intelligence Community Footprint, Drive Business Development  

18 June 2007—Chantilly, VA—AMERICAN SYSTEMS, an employee-owned government IT solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Joseph R. Szymczak, PMP to the position of Vice President and Executive Director, Intelligence Market. Szymczak’s primary focus is on Intelligence Decision Systems, and he will play a pivotal role in helping customers with their systems integration, PMO support, training/exercise support and other Decision Support functions.

Most recently, at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Szymczak led the security solutions division as vice president and division manager. In this position, he oversaw the division’s successful transition to profitability for the first time since the division’s acquisition. Szymczak’s professional experience also includes a stint as senior manager at General Dynamics’ Decision Systems Development Group, where he played a central role in driving revenue growth and in integrating several geographically dispersed modeling simulation and training organizations. Additionally, Szymczak has held various senior level positions at Veridian Information Solutions, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).

Szymczak began his career in the U.S. Marines and served in the Corps for more than twenty years.  

Szymczak earned an undergraduate degree in business from Park University and is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration from Strayer University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
