Military and Industry Veteran to Lead Education and Training of National Security Professionals
February 17, 2009 – Chantilly, VA – AMERICAN SYSTEMS today announced the appointment of Tim Halstead to vice president, Readiness Strategic Business Area (SBA). Halstead will lead a team that helps military and civilian agencies train and educate their personnel to perform tasks critical to their organizations’ missions.

As leader of the Readiness SBA, Halstead will oversee the development and delivery of readiness strategies and services — training, simulation and performance measurement assistance — to prepare and educate federal agency personnel responsible for national and homeland security.
Prior to joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Halstead served as vice president of modeling and simulation at L-3 Communications/MPRI, where he developed constructive and analytical modeling, simulation and training programs in the company’s international group. Before L-3 Communications, Halstead held program management positions in government support services for BTG, Inc. and Mystech Associates, Inc.
In addition, Halstead served for more than 20 years in various positions in the U.S. Army, including platoon leader, company commander, battalion operations officer, battalion executive officer and other brigade and service level staff positions.
Halstead earned a bachelor’s in management from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
