Seasoned Cybersecurity Expert to Bolster Company’s ID Management Capabilities, Cultivate New Business in Computer Network Defense and Cybersecurity
July 06, 2010 — Chantilly, VA — AMERICAN SYSTEMS today announced the appointment of Raymond “Ray” Rafaels as Vice President of Identity Management and Information Assurance (IMIA). In this role, Ray will lead the company’s IMIA business and aid in the development of the Cybersecurity Systems Engineering business division.

Rafaels has more than 25 years of IT professional services and program management experience, most recently running the Information Assurance (IA) Cybersecurity Services business at ManTech International. Rafaels directed IA projects with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), U.S. government Intelligence Agencies, Air Force, Navy, and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
Prior to joining ManTech, Ray Rafaels held leadership positions at OPNET Technologies, Hughes Network Systems, Hitachi Data Systems, and Computer Associates (CA), where he was responsible for leading IT professional services and network management efforts.
Earlier in his career, he managed classified IT development programs, first with the CIA and then within government contractor companies.
Ray graduated at the top of his class earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business and Engineering Administration, both from the George Washington University. He also earned certifications as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Ray is based out of AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ Chantilly office.
